The ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION IS EXCITED

as it kicked off its 100th anniversary by offering free membership to all new members who join in 2026.
They will become part of the great legacy of an organization whose chief mission revolves around serving Veterans and their families.
“We are so proud of this organization and its members and thrilled at the prospect of welcoming new members from all parts of Canada to our ranks during our centenary year, many of whom we hope will be with us for a long time to come,” says Berkley Lawrence, Dominion President.
“Among them, will be great volunteers, fresh ideas, and all of them will truly strengthen our dedicated and growing membership of over 270,000 people.”

Throughout the year, the Legion will hold special events at the national, provincial, and local levels, and will announce new projects that will mark its entry into the next century.

The Legion’s official anniversary on July 17, 2026, will also be highlighted with events in Ottawa and across the country.

The Harvest Sun Music & Art Society

Founded in 2005, originally called The Kelwood Improvement Society (after the Avonlea Improvement Society in the Anne of Green Gables books), the organization became a registered charity in 2009. The name was changed in 2013 to the Harvest Sun Music & Art Society, but the mandate of supporting our agriculturally based community by bolstering culture, providing quality arts, education, and entertainment, remained the same. Currently, the society is the umbrella organization for the music festival, the arboretum garden, the outdoor quilt show, the barn quilts and

Once a derelict area, the Kelwood Arboretum Garden (land belongs to the RM of Rosedale) now offers a peaceful pause and an inspirational oasis for those who want to sit and breathe, for those that drive by slowly take in the ever changing colour, and for those who stroll through on their way to somewhere else.
The garden also provides a home for the Eleanore Rose Outdoor Quilt Show and a lovely spot for community gatherings, weddings and family photos.
In 2026 the installation for the permanent quilt structures will be set in motion, With preparations for the Eleanor Rose Outdoor Quilt Show in the Arboretum Garden.

BARN QUILTS

Picture
These placards of BARN QUILTS were made and placed by Kelwood's artist in residence Kathy Levandoski. The location of each individual placard was done with thoughtful and strategic planning. Placing each of the BARN QUILTS on the outside of buildings throughout the village of Kelwood which became somewhat of an outdoor scavenger hunt. *You can pick up a Kathy Levandoski's BARN QUILTS Scavenger Hunt sheet at The BARN COUNTRY STORE.
